Meet your principal ….
Laura Ratcliffe
Laura trained at MB academy of dance from the age of 3 and then went onto further her professional training at Renaissance Arts. After completing her training she performed as a Production Dancer onboard several cruise ships including P&Os Britannia where she was part of the original cast and Cunards Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria. She has also performed in various TV programmes, events around the UK, the renowned Thursford Christmas spectacular and many QDOS/Crossroads pantomimes.
In between performing Laura has continued to teach and gain her teaching qualifications. These include IDTA Licentiate Tap, IDTA level 4 diploma in Ballet, Modern/Jazz and Tap, BATD Associate Tap and BATD Associate modern recieving distinction in all exams. She has 15 years of teaching experience, teaching from ages 2-18 in all genres. Laura prides herself in treating all her students equally and improving her knowledge through CPD.

Laura is keen to pass on her knowledge to the next generation of students and be able to offer a variety of opportunities for her students. These include exams, competitions, shows, events, workshops and much more.

Meet the Team
Introducing our teachers ...

Mr Martin
Mr Martin is our assistant teacher and helps with events, rehearsals and classes.
​
Martin trained professionally for 3 years at Phil Winston theatre works. After graduating Martin went on to work as a professional dancer in many cruise ships and in pantomimes. This was where he met his wife and principal of LDA Miss Laura.
​
Martin has a wealth of knowledge from working in the industry and loves sharing this with our students. He is a huge support to all of our students and Miss Laura.

Miss Katie
Miss Katie is currently at full-time Musical theatre college Renaissance Arts and will be joining us on a saturday morning to assist with the Pre-school and mini classes.
​
Katies passion and commitment has always shone through and I am sure she will pass this on to our younger students. A pleasure to have you with us :)

Miss Emily
Miss Emily is a qualified speech, drama and voice teacher. Emily moved to london at 16 to train at Fourth monkey theatre company, and then went on to Identity school of acting, gaining representation under IAG and working professionally as a performer whilst studying for her teaching qualifications.

Emily has veen a vocal and speech and drama coach for the past 8 years, with past students gaining places at schools such as LAMDA, Bristol Old Vic, Oxford school of drama, Bird, Laine, Urdang, Arts Ed, Emil Dale, Trina Park, Sylvia Young Theatre school and students working professionally in TV, film and theatre too.

Emily is so excited to be with working with the talented LDA dancers on their vocal skills.

Mike
Michael Lowry
Dancer | Choreographer | Teacher
Michael Lowry is a versatile dance artist with a strong foundation in commercial and professional dance. He began dancing at the age of thirteen and went on to train at Shockout Arts, where he earned a BA (Hons) in Professional and Commercial Dance.
Now agency-represented, Michael works professionally across the commercial dance industry. His performance credits include high-profile fashion shows, corporate events, and television appearances, with brands and platforms such as PUMA, L’Oréal/Urban Decay, Adidas, Channel 4, and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Alongside his performance career, Michael holds a PGCE at Masters Level in Higher Education (14+) and is a dedicated educator and choreographer. He currently teaches and creates work across the UK, sharing his passion and expertise with the next generation of dancers.

Miss Shannon
Shannon trained at Rambert school where she obtained a degree in ballet and contemporary dance. Whilst training, Shannon was lucky enough to perform in a solo in a piece called ‘Linear remains’ at Sadlers wells theatre, as well as reforming pieces from her graduate show at the Royal opera house. Shannon has taught at various dance schools passing on her knowledge of ballet and contemporary as well as choreographing solo and group dances for competition students. She is excited to join the team at Laura’s Dance Academy and is looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

Miss Emily
Miss Emily is currently working towards her ISTD DDE and will soon be a fully qualified ballet teacher.

Emily trained at Moorland ballet academy and is now at Renaissance Arts training full-time.

Emily has always been a pleasure to teach and I have no doubt she will be a great asset to teamLDA

Miss Lucie
Lucie began her training at the Marilyn Baker School of Dance and continued to refine her craft with Northern Ballet Theatre Associates and the Yorkshire Scholarship Centre. As a student, Lucie performed with the National Youth Ballet, including appearances on television and in London's prestigious West End.
Lucie graduated from the Central School of Ballet and went on to enjoy a successful professional career, performing around the world aboard Silversea's luxury cruise ships. She served as Dance Captain during her time at sea, showcasing her leadership and artistic versatility.
A Fellow of the IDTA and holder of a Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance, Lucie brings both academic excellence and industry experience to her teaching.
Since 2019, Lucie has been proud to work with the Royal Ballet School's Primary Steps programme, helping to make high-quality ballet training accessible to young dancers across the UK. Passionate, dedicated, and deeply experienced, Lucie fosters a positive and disciplined environment where students can grow in both skill and confidence.
Lucie holds a level 3 Mat Pilates diploma and is also a Barre fitness instructor.
